De Proeffabriek

De Proeffabriek (DPF) is a consultancy for responsible innovation, registered as an SME in the Netherlands. DPF focuses on social value creation in research and innovation, realising social and environmental benefits in addition to economic gain. We work with researchers, innovators and policy makers to include a concern for people and the environment at the earliest stages of innovation.

Daan Schuurbiers has encouraged early reflection on the possible social impacts of emerging technologies throughout his research and current advisory work. He designs training courses for researchers, builds novel interdisciplinary collaborations, advises on research policy and regularly speaks at conferences to raise awareness with researchers of the broader societal dimensions of their work.

Hannie van den Bergh is an experienced designer and award-winning filmmaker. She has extensive experience working at the interface of arts and science. She uses tools like co-creation, storytelling, design thinking, and data visualisation to shape our thoughts on new technologies and societal challenges. She founded Studio HB, a studio for visual communication: www.studio-hb.nl.

Maud Bomert

Hannie and Daan have worked together on other recent European projects in the area of nanotechnologies, including NanoDiode and SeeingNano.

The roles of DPF in GoNano are to lead the work packages on co-creation with professional stakeholders and on dissemination and communication. We will also contribute to the review of the state of the art in co-creation, training activities and policy outreach.
